Independent MP Allegra Spender visited UNSW’s Solar Industry Research Facility and met with ACAP Co-founder Professor Martin Green, ACAP Executive Director Renate Egan and solar panel recycling expert Dr Rong Deng on January 30 to discuss the many exciting developments and opportunities in solar PV, including commercialisation of solar panel recycling IP developed at UNSW.

Allegra posted on her Instagram account: "Absolute honour to meet Wentworth legend Professor Martin Green AM.
"Martin is the father of solar PV and there is barely a solar panel out there that doesn’t have some of his technology embedded in it.
"We have him and his team at UNSW SPREE to thank for the clean, cheap power that solar provides today - what a legacy!"
Professor Green said: "A lot of the students that I've trained here at UNSW have gone on to become captains of industry, and they are largely responsible for the fact that we [the world] has cheap solar now."

Allegra Spender is the Independent Member of Parliament for the Sydney seat of Wentworth and has a long-held interest in and understanding of the importance of clean energy, electrification, innovation and education.
They were joined in discussions by Dani Alexander, CEO of the Energy Institute; Attila Brungs, Vice Chancellor of UNSW; Dr Anna Bruce (leading on Electrification and Grid Integration); Dr Linda Koschier (leading on Innovation and Enterprise for the Faculty of Engineering) and Verity Tan, (prospective PhD student).
